Description
Summary:Over time, global warming, due to human actions such as fuel consumption and industrial practices, has gained visibility, as it triggers important climatic alterations and has a significant impact on public health at an international level. This review article aims to detail the effects of global warming on human health in Latin America, exploring how high temperatures, extreme weather events and air pollution affect physical and mental well-being; their influence in different countries is compared and the present disparities are highlighted. It was found that climate change has had a notable impact on the epidemiology and clinical manifestations of several diseases. In Latin America, climate change presents various challenges for health systems due to extreme weather events, vector-borne diseases and changes in the availability of food and water. These factors complicate the response capacity of health systems, which already face significant limitations in resources and operational capacity.
