Description
Summary:The primary objective of this paper is to evaluate the innovativeness of industrial enterprises in Poland from 2015 to 2022. The main research question is: Did the level of innovativeness increase during this period? Additionally, the study aims to develop a formula for measuring the degree of innovativeness among firms, representing its most significant scientific contribution. An analysis of statistical data indicates that the innovation stagnation observed in the previous period (2006–2017), persisted in 2015–2022. However, toward the end of the study period, there was a slight increase in innovative activities among industrial firms, though not yet a breakthrough. A particularly positive trend was the visible growth in R&D expenditure and an increase in enterprises’ R&D personnel. The main barrier to a further rise in innovation was a significant drop in innovation expenditure. The principal cause of this decline was a sharp decrease in the investment rate in the Polish economy from 2015 to 2022.
