Summary:The inherent successive transformations of cities lead us to reconsidering and sometimes redifining its limits. This places often present in an obvious way, but sometimes with more subtility, the emergence of new uses, as well as disappearance of others. The Marché aux puces of Saint-Ouen, in the north of Paris, and the objects we find there, are taken as an example for a broader thinking on opportunities and transformations which take place in fringes composing administrative limits between city and contemporary metropolitan agglomerations.
