Summary:The district of Karimama in Northern Benin, occupied by the W Park on about five-sixths of its surface, evokes a land characterized by a lack of farmland, the severity of the climate with recurrent extreme events (droughts and floods) and the lack of access roads. This paper investigates the perceptions of communities on their territory and some ongoing mechanisms developed to control space by enhancing common resources value. Through speeches and facts, we offer an explanation of factors underlying controlling process of bourgou “Echinochloa stagnina” pasturelands in the context of land recession.
