Summary:The networks of water supply in Jakarta are intermittent and uneven. Consequently, the inhabitants of Jakarta are disposed with a highly varied water supply. Besides, a strong polarization of the social class leads to social inequality in Jakarta. These socio-spatial inequalities will bring effects on the daily water supply of the Jakarta inhabitants. This article analyzes how these socio-spatial inequalities influence representations of water resource and practices of consumption within the population of Jakarta.
