Description
Summary:Abstract Habitat use and seasonal movement data were obtained from 105 eastern wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) instrumented with radio transmitters and from other non‐instrumented birds at five study areas. Turkeys preferred a diversity of habitat types in their ranges and often made seasonal movements to meet their needs. Hens moved farther in the spring than gobblers because of their special needs for nesting and brood rearing habitat. Implications for management are discussed.
