After his death, the indigenous pueblos de indios took advantage of his renown as a founder in their own space-time to legitimate their land claims. The past recorded in these “Maní Land Titles” ultimately owed its existence to its relationship to the experienced present, and the perceived distance between the two space-times was much shorter than what one might imagine. |
