| Summary: | In Algeria, the post independence period has neglected the preservation of the landscape and the environment ; this has lead to severe alterations to all the components of the natural environment. From the 1980s the desire of protection of the landscape has raised ; instruments were designed for landscape professionals in order to integrate the environmental and the landscape demands in the spatial development process. Unfortunately, urbanization has caused serious damage to the environment and the landscape ; this points out the omission of measures relating to the protection of the environment in the legislation. This article intends to review the legislation which has established the instruments of urban planning at different scales. |
