Description
Summary:From the early 2000’s to the mid-2010’s, multimedia productions identified as « interactive documentary » or « web documentary » became an integral part of cultural industries. At the same time, they were integrated into the professional and institutional field, as they seemed to illustrate an ideal of accessibility and renewal. They soon were considered valuable academic subjects and research tools. However, from the 2010’s to the beginning of the 2020’s, this development was challenged by an increasing risk of technical obsolescence, causing a necessary awareness regarding web preservation and archiving issues. Focusing on a selection of French or francophone web documentary projects, this paper aims to highlight the conditions of a becoming archive of web documentaries.
