Description
Summary:The article proposes to underline the presence of a landscape sensitivity by the colonizing power in the establishment and development of the European city of Sousse in Tunisia. The landscape expression developed by the French in Sousse aims to be more obvious than those previously developed in the other European city of North Africa. Through the reading of archival documents, newspapers of the period, and an iconographic analysis : city maps, postcards, architectural plans, postcards and photos of the time, we suggest to deal with the question into three parts : The first part highlights the idea of the establishment and the development of the European cities of North Africa. The second part underscores the main characteristics of the European city of Sousse. The last part stresses the way through which to stage the city of Sousse and to show its symbiotic role with the medina.
