Description
Summary:The functional service economy consists in substituting the access to a function to the private ownership of a product. This article aims at presenting the theoretical principles of this business model and the terminology used in the English-speaking literature to name the concepts that have been derived from it. A typology of the business models through which it is implemented is then proposed: collective consumption, use-oriented services and result-oriented services. The mechanisms of the models referenced in these three categories are then described and illustrated with examples of practical applications.
