In this study 15 dairy cows belonging to the Livestock Research Center of Konya and 8 dairy cows raised by public and brought to our clinics in 10— 15 days after calving were used as research material.<p>
The biopsy of Liver and blood samples were taken from each cow belonging to the Livestock Research Center in the first week prior to and 1-2 weeks following the calving; whereas the same samples were obtained from the other experimental animals in two weeks after calving.<p>
The fatty liver syndrome was observed in cows brought to our clinics as mild in 12.5 %, moderate in 12.5 % and severe in 75 %, while it was found tobe mild in 73.3 %, moderate in 20 % and severe in 6.6 % in those that were kept in Livestock Research Center.<p>
It was determined that the concentration of FFA and GO T in blood sera were increased in connection to the fatty liver syndrome whereas the glucose concentration was reduced.<p>
As a result, it was concluded that the fatty liver syndrome was seen in higher percentage in the first two weeks after calving in dairy cattle that were raised by public, consequently the liver biopsy seems to be the only reliable method for the diagnosis of fatty liver syndrome. |
