| description | The aim of this short note is to present the methodology used to analyse the Bourciez survey in a systematic way. This large-scale linguistic survey was carried out by the romanist Édouard Bourcier at the end of 1894, thanks to the teachers of ten départements in the academies of Bordeaux and Toulouse. He asked them to translate a reworked version of the parable of the prodigal son into the language of the commune where they taught. The result is a corpus of 17 volumes of manuscripts, each more or less a thousand pages long. For the most part, this survey was never systematically examined. Since May 2020, an original team of researchers, teachers and enthusiasts of the Occitan language have decided to fill this gap. |
