Description
Summary:Introduccion: The lips are the focal point of the inferior third of the face and they keep an important functions. The scamous cancer and basal cells skin cáncer are the most common neoplasm that affect the lip, imposing the need for its reconstruction. The important thing about the technique used is that it meets the basic conditions of cheiloplasty: to cover the dental arches, to ensure occlusion of the buccal orifice, to reconstruct a lip as normal as possible, to allow opening and closing movements, to maintain foods during the mastication and to retain saliva. The defect should be defined in terms of depth, localization and size. Case Report: Six cases were presented with complex labial defects after tumor ablation that were reconstructed by local flaps, obtaining excellent cosmetic and functional. results. Conclutions: Authors agree that the case should be individualized, taking into account the characteristics of the patient and the defect to be reconstructed.
