Use of filtration and electricity analogy in simulation of underflooding protection in urban construction by V. I. Sologaev

    Published 2021-09-01
“…The methodology for complex calculation and modelling of the joint processes of water filtration in soils, the flow of electric current and electroosmotic filtration can find useful application in the development of effective protection against underflooding in urban construction. a sequence of algorithmic modelling steps is recommended. initially, it is recommended to run rough spreadsheet simulations on personal computers and mobile phones. next, a different modelling approach should be applied. based on the initial rough models of the previous step, it is necessary to write the algorithms in the programming language. the compiled model of the investigated filtration and electroosmosis processes will significantly increase the reliability of the design of protection against underflooding.conclusion. a comparison is made of the joint use of construction dewatering means of different physical essence, with simultaneous processes of gravitational filtration of underground water and passing a direct electric current through the drained soil, which causes an additional effect of electroosmosis. it is proposed to apply in a new way the analogy of water filtration and electric current in order to achieve more effective results of engineering activities by modeling protection against underflooding of building areas, ensuring the safety of urban construction when the level of groundwater rises.…”

AI-powered literature search: some observations and concerns by Farooq Azam Rathore, Fareeha Farooq

    Published 2024-12-01
“…It remains unclear for some search engines whether articles are chosen and recommended based on citation counts, impact factors, or other criteria. The algorithms behind AI tools may inherently approve of a certain type of content or styles of writing, which can affect the summaries produced.7 This data and algorithmic bias may be problematic for seasoned researchers who need to understand the basis for the information being generated by these AI tools. …”

Multi-authority attribute-based encryption access control model for cloud storage by Zhi-tao GUAN, Ting-ting YANG, Ru-zhi XU, Zhu-xiao WANG

    Published 2015-06-01
“…The existing attribute-based encryption access control studies are mostly based on single authority, and this scheme is apt to be under attack to cause exposure of secret keys. Thus,a multi-authority access control model PRM-CSAC is proposed.Based on CP-ABE method,a multi-authority attribute-based encryption scheme is designed to improve security level.Minimized attribute grouping algorithm is designed to distribute keys to users according to needs, which can reduce unnecessary attribute key distribution and decrease the amount of re-encryption attributes. The read and write attribute are added to strengthen the control of owners. The analysis shows that the proposed scheme can meet the security requirement of access control in cloud, and it also has less response time and system cost.…”

Code Generation for Collectible Card Games with Complex APIs by John Licato, Logan Fields, Brayden Hollis

    Published 2023-05-01
“…Given these practical limitations, is it possible to utilize these massive code-generation LMs to write code compatible with a given API? We develop an algorithm that selects code examples using a smaller LM trained to predict which features of an API are likely to be used in the resulting code, which is a simpler problem than actually generating the code. …”
