The immune landscape of fetal chorionic villous tissue in term placenta
Published 2025-01-01“…Recent studies have characterized the transcriptional profile of the first trimester (T1) placenta; however, the phenotypic and functional diversity of chorionic villous immune cells at term (T3) remain poorly understood.MethodsTo address this knowledge gap, immune cells from human chorionic villous tissues obtained from full-term, uncomplicated pregnancies were deeply phenotyped using a combination of flow cytometry, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq, CITE-seq) and chromatin accessibility profiling (snATAC-seq).ResultsOur results indicate that, relative to the first trimester, the frequency of fetal macrophages (HBC, proliferating HBC) is significantly reduced, whereas that of infiltrating maternal monocytes/macrophages (PAMM1b, PAMM1a, PAMM2, MAC_1) increased in T3. PAMM1b and HBCs exhibit the most phagocytic capacity at term highlighting their regulatory role in tissue homeostasis in late pregnancy. …”

Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in dizygotic twin ovine fetuses are associated with discordant responses to antenatal steroid therapy
Published 2025-02-01“…Methods Thirty-one date-mated ewes carrying twin fetuses at 123 ± 1 days’ gestation received maternal intramuscular injections of either (i) 1 × 0.25 mg/kg betamethasone phosphate and acetate (CS1, n = 11 twin pairs) or (ii) 2 × 0.25 mg/kg betamethasone phosphate and acetate, 24 h apart (CS2, n = 10 twin pairs) or (iii) 2 × saline, 24 h apart (negative control, n = 10 twin pairs). …”

Early release of circulating tumor cells after transarterial chemoembolization hinders therapeutic response in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
Published 2025-01-01“…Results In all, 48 patients with HCC undergoing TACE were included (age 64.2 ± 7.6 years, 14.6% women). CTC levels increased at D1 (114.0% [IQR 76.5%-178.0%], p = 0.019) and normalized to baseline levels in the first month after TACE (76.5% [IQR 41.3%-131.8%], p = 0.263). …”

Characterisation of the effects of the chemotherapeutic agent paclitaxel on neuropathic pain-related behaviour, anxiodepressive behaviour, cognition, and the endocannabinoid system...
Published 2025-01-01“…Paclitaxel (PTX) is a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug, however, one of its major adverse effects is chronic neuropathic pain, with the incidence being higher in women than in men. The neurobiological mechanisms behind this sex difference are still largely unclear, and the endocannabinoid system, which exhibits sexual dimorphism and plays a key role in pain regulation, is a promising area for further studies. …”

Epicardial Fat Tissue: A Potential Marker for Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction
Published 2025-02-01“…The CMD‐negative patients were younger than the CMD‐positive patients (58.52±11.97 versus 63.37±9.56 years; P=0.033), with numerically fewer women (64.2% versus 74.3%; P=0.279). Univariate regression analysis demonstrated a statistically significant association between EFV index and CMD diagnosis (odds ratio, 1.037 [95% CI, 1.014–1.063]; P=0.003), while no significance was observed for EFV (odds ratio, 1.006 [95% CI, 0.995–1.017]; P=0.292). …”
