Adaptive clustering federated learning via similarity acceleration
Published 2024-03-01“…In order to solve the problem of model performance degradation caused by data heterogeneity in the federated learning process, it is necessary to consider personalizing in the federated model.A new adaptively clustering federated learning (ACFL) algorithm via similarity acceleration was proposed, achieving adaptive acceleration clustering based on geometric properties of local updates and the positive feedback mechanism during clients federated training.By dividing clients into different task clusters, clients with similar data distribution in the same cluster was cooperated to improve the performance of federated model. It did not need to determine the number of clusters in advance and iteratively divide the clients, so as to avoid the problems of high computational cost and slow convergence speed in the existing clustering federation methods while ensuring the performance of models. The effectiveness of ACFL was verified by using deep convolutional neural networks on commonly used datasets. The results show that the performance of ACFL is comparable to the clustered federated learning (CFL) algorithm, it is better than the traditional iterative federated cluster algorithm (IFCA), and has faster convergence speed.…”

Software and hardware co-design of lightweight authenticated ciphers ASCON for the internet of things
Published 2022-12-01“…ASCON was the most promising algorithm to become an international standard in the 2021 NIST lightweight authenticated encryption call for proposals. The algorithm was designed to achieve the best performance in IoT resource-constrained environments, and there was no hardware IP core implementation based on this algorithm in the open literature.A software-hardware collaborative implementation method of ASCON was proposed, which improved the speed and reduced the memory footprint of ASCON in IoT security authentication applications through hardware means such as S-box optimization, prior calculation and advanced pipeline design. As a comparison, ASCON has been transplanted on the common IoT embedded processor platform. The results showed that the described method was more than 7.9 times faster, while the memory footprint was reduced by at least 90%.The schemes can be used for the design and implementation of IoT security application-specific integrated circuits or SoCs.…”

Reconfigurable intelligent surface assisted resource optimization method for heterogeneous network
Published 2022-11-01“…For reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted heterogeneous network slicing, a resource optimization method with joint resource allocation and phase shift optimization was proposed.A joint optimization problem with different objectives was constructed for different services in heterogeneous networks. For enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) services, the resource block allocation, power allocation and RIS phase shift matrix were jointly optimized based on the alternating optimization algorithm to maximize the total traversal capacity of eMBB users. For ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) services, a pre-configured RIS-based heuristic URLLC allocation algorithm was proposed with the objectives of maximizing the URLLC packet reception rate and minimizing the amount of eMBB rate loss.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves about 99.99% URLLC packet reception rate using only 80 RISs compared to 95.95% URLLC packet reception rate when no RISs are deployed, while the total eMBB rate is increased by 86.24%.…”
