Dual‐Enhanced SERS Satellite Immuno‐Nanocomplex for Multiple PSA‐Mediated PHI Assay Toward Clinical Prostate Cancer Screening by Dong Chen, Yilin Ma, Annan Yang, Liping Hu, Hanlin Zhou, Jun Xu, Shanze Chen, Dingmeng Nie, Weifeng Feng, Huaihong Cai, Yanguang Cong, Jiang Pi, Lang Rao, Xueqin Huang, Pinghua Sun, Haibo Zhou

    Published 2025-02-01
“…Herein, this study reports a double‐SERS satellite immunoassay, made of an Au–Ag dealloyed intra‐nanogap nanoflower (Au–Ag DINF) with strong SERS signals and Au magnetic nanoparticles (AuMNPs) with magnetic capture and SERS amplification, for sensing multiple PSA (free PSA (fPSA), complexed PSA (cPSA) and [‐2]proPSA (p2PSA)) toward potential PCa screening. Unlike the previous studies focus on the tPSA and fPSA/tPSA ratio (f/t PSA%), this work introduces a multiple PSA‐mediated Prostate Health Index (PHI) assay with significantly increased the predictive accuracy and specificity of PCa, especially the patients with a tPSA level in the “diagnostic gray zone”. …”

Topsoil Compaction Risk Based on the Different Responses of Soil Structure to Compaction Stress by Huiqing Zhang, Tingfeng He

    Published 2024-12-01
“…In this study, we quantified the changes in the aeration porosity, aggregate mean weight diameter, structure coefficient, and cone index of different soil layers in response to compaction stress under different tyre axle weights (7.0 kN, 11.5 kN, 15.8 kN, and 20.4 kN) to analyse the risk of soil compaction in the topsoil layer (0–25 cm). The results showed that the compaction stresses that led to significant changes in soil structure in the 0–5 cm, 5–10 cm, 10–15 cm, and 15–20 cm soil layers were 130 kPa, 156 kPa, 111 kPa, and 103 kPa, respectively, and were significantly greater than the precompression stress of the soil in each layer. …”

Exploring perceived barriers to palliative and end of life care provision in South-West England: bringing together the perspectives of professionals, patients, and families by Gary Hodge, Gina Kallis, Tomasina M. Oh, Hannah Wheat, Susie Pearce, Susie Pearce

    Published 2025-01-01
“…This region of the UK brings its own set of unique challenges due to its rural and coastal location, an aging population, and a historical lack of research.MethodsAn exploratory study was conducted which involved patients, families, and professionals who were providing and receiving PEoLC. A total of 13 qualitative focus groups were held with a total of 63 participants; 45 were health and care professionals and 18 were people toward the end of their life, family/carers and people who were bereaved.ResultsA range of barriers were identified for those providing and receiving PEoLC services. …”
