    Published 2023-01-01
“…On July 8,2020,a landslide occurred in Shiban Village,Ganlong Town,Songtao County,Guizhou Province, causing casualties and diverting the river below.Through field investigation and section measurement, the development characteristics and formation mechanism of the landslide are analyzed. In addition, the motion characteristics of the landslide are simulated by the discrete element program UDEC to restore the deformation and failure process of the landslide from start-up to river blocking. The time-effect displacement curves of different parts of the landslide are obtained. The conclusions are as follows:The landslide is produced under the comprehensive action of unfavorable topography and geomorphology and formation lithology combination, rock mass structure, rainfall, and human engineering activities. The sliding surface is the contact surface of marlstone and coarse-grained limestone. The formation process of the landslide can be divided into three stages:leading-edge slip-trailing-edge crack, whole slippage, and collision accumulation. The landslide has a violent starting effect, and the maximum start-up rate can reach 5.24 m/s.The displacement and deformation rates of the trailing edge lag behind those of the leading edge, and the maximum horizontal displacement of the landslide is 217.5 m.…”
