Optimal payload lengths of reliable multicast schemes by ZHU Feng1, WU Ling-shuang2, GU Yuan-tao1

    Published 2011-01-01
“…Using total transmission time-the time needed to guarantee reliable data dissemination——as judgment criterion, the payload length selection problem was investigated for three multicast solutions which are based on simple feedback retransmission,Reed-Solomon codes, and LT fountain codes, respectively, with the consideration of packet overhead.A theoretical analysis method was proposed to determine the optimal payload lengths, which was verified by simulations.Analyses and simulations indicate, for variable packet overhead sizes and link bit error rates, each method considered has its optimal payload length. As link bit error rate increases, the performance gain brought by the selection of optimal pay-load lengths becomes more significant.Among the three solutions, the reliable multicast solution based on LT fountain codes has the most outstanding performance.…”

Improvement of the management system of the pharmaceutical service of the health care institution by Ye.V. Zalyhina

    Published 2024-12-01
“…A statistically significant negative rank correlation of average strength was observed between the amount of expenses for medical care of one patient and the level of errors in prescribing medicines for the considered period (r= -0.49; 95% CI (-0.67)–(-0.26); p<0.001), which contradicts the generally accepted notion and, according to the authors, is related to the uniqueness of the situation during the considered period (first the pandemic, then the war). Therefore, it can be concluded that the introduction of new approaches to control the prescription of medicines led to a significant (p<0.002) reduction in the level of errors in appointment lists over 4.5 years by 78.44% compared to the initial value; the higher level of errors in appointment lists corresponds to lower costs for medical care, which is a consequence of the unstable situation on the drug market during the pandemic and the war in Ukraine; the improvement of pharmaceutical service management processes was directed to the following areas of work: planning, control, implementation and functioning of the information system, personnel management, performance evaluation, involvement of interested parties for the formation and implementation of decisions.…”

Strong, tough and aqua-degradable poly(glycolic acid)/poly (butyleneadipate-co-terephthalate) composites achieved by interfacial regulation by Chao Ma, Mintao Zhu, Min Gong, Liang Zhang, Dongrui Wang, Xiang Lin

    Published 2025-03-01
“…Poly(glycolic acid) (PGA) has displayed excellent tensile strength, degradability and renewability, but it still faces dilemmas in practical because of its low toughness, poor melt strength and the ease of thermal degradation. In this work, in order to take full advantages of its degradability and high strength, the PGA was toughened by poly(butyleneadipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) and reinforced by chopped carbon fibers (CFs) through melt compounding with the help of compatibilizers which facilitated the regulation of interfacial morphology and thereby performance. …”
