Adaptive evolution of SARS-CoV-2 during a persistent infection for 521 days in an immunocompromised patient
Published 2025-01-01“…With 11 amino acid substitutions in the receptor binding domain of the virus’ spike protein, substitutions were 15 times more abundant than expected for a random distribution in this highly functional region. Amongst them were the substitutions S:K417T, S:N440S, S:K444R, S:V445A, S:G446N, S:L452Q, S:N460K, and S:E484V at positions that are notorious for their resistance-mediating effects. …”

Divalent Metal- and High Mobility Group N Protein-Dependent Nucleosome Stability and Conformation
Published 2010-01-01“…Residues outside of the nucleosome binding domain are required for the activity, which is also displayed by an HMGN1 truncation product lacking part of the regulatory domain. In addition, thermal denaturation assays show that the presence of 1 mM Mg2+> or Ca2+ gives a reduction in nucleosome core terminus stability, which is further substantially diminished by the binding of HMGN2 or truncated HMGN1. …”

Analysis of the influence of Doppler effect on Starlink downlink signals
Published 2024-03-01“…Understanding the influence of Doppler effect on the transmission performance of the Starlink system was an important prerequisite to decipher its unique physical layer structure. To this end, firstly a Doppler effect model considering relative motion between the satellites and the earth was established, and the maximum Doppler effect parameters of the Starlink was provided.Subsequently, a signal model under Doppler effect was constructed based on the Starlink downlink time-frequency structure and parameters. Finally, time-frequency domain theoretical characteristics under Doppler effect for the three main components of the downlink signal were established. The validity of the theoretical findings is corroborated through simulations, serving as a valuable reference for research on transmission reliability in existing and future low earth orbit satellite communication systems.…”

Analysis of the 2016 – 2025 fiscal budget of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Published 2024-12-01“…From 2016 to 2025, the allocation of basic funds/project budgets mainly focused on areas such as "HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention," "Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion," and "Immunization and Respiratory Diseases," all accounting for more than 10% of the total budget. Among them, the budget for "HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention" showed significant fluctuations (US$ 0.934 billion to US$ 1.553 billion), while the budget for "Immunization and Respiratory Diseases" remained at a relatively high level with minor fluctuations (US$ 0.701 billion to US$ 1.256 billion). …”

Optimal Control of a Delay-Varying Computer Virus Propagation Model
Published 2013-01-01“…By incorporating the objective of keeping a low number of infected nodes and a high number of recovered nodes at a lower cost into a known computer virus model (the delay-varying SIRC model) extended by introducing quarantine, a novel model is described by means of the optimal control strategy and theoretically analyzed. Through the comparison of simulation results, it is shown that the propagation of computer virus with varying latency period can be suppressed effectively by the optimal control strategy.…”
