Global analysis of a simple parasite-host model withhomoclinic orbits
Published 2012-09-01“…The globaldynamics of the model is completely investigated, and the existenceof heteroclinic and homoclinic orbits is theoretically proved, which implies that the outbreak of parasite infection may happen. The thresholds determining the host extinction in the presence ofparasite infection and variation in the equilibrium level of theinfected hosts with $R_0$ are found. …”

Surprise Without a Cause?. ‘False Recapitulations’ in the Classical Repertoire and the Modern Paradigm of Sonata Form
Published 2013-01-01“…However, closer scrutiny reveals that the concept of false recapitulation is based on a number of different, partially incompatible cognitive, intentional, theoretical, and historical criteria. In an attempt to reconstruct the horizon of expectations of historical listeners, I shall essentially draw on two sources: the compositional practice of the time as reflected in a preliminary repertoire study and contemporaneous theoretical writings. …”

Study on needle anatomical structure and drought resistance of 15 spruce species
Published 2025-01-01“…The mesophyll had no differentiation of palisade tissue and spongy tissue. (2) There were significant differences in different indexes of the anatomical structure of the needles among the 15 spruce species. Among them, the variation coefficient of the stele area was the largest (22.83%), and the variation coefficient of the cuticle thickness was the smallest (9.69%). (3) The contribution of each index of the spruce needle structure to stress drought resistance was: Subcortical thickness > stele area> stele thickness > needle cross-sectional area > cuticle thickness > endodermis cell length > epidermis thickness > pore number in needle cross-section > endodermis thickness. (4) The 15 spruce species were divided into four categories by cluster analysis, which reflected the differences in developmental degree of the protective tissue, nutritional tissue, and transfusion tissue of the tested plants. …”

Isolation and Identification of Individual Intestinal Bacteria Associated with Waist Circumference Increase
Published 2024-10-01“…Since the origin of obesity is multifactorial and complex, resulting from the interaction between genetic/epigenetic, environmental, and socio-psychological determinants, in addition to the bacterial composition of the intestinal flora could be a third element involved in the development of excess weight. Therefore intestinal flora plays an intermediary role in the metabolism and inflammation and is involved in the pathogenesis of diabetes type 2 and obesity. …”

Multi-hazard risk in socially vulnerable communities across the United States
Published 2025-01-01“…We find that multi-hazard risk disproportionately accumulates in the most vulnerable communities and therefore constitutes an environmental injustice. Nationally, socioeconomically vulnerable populations (e.g., low-income households and those lacking health insurance) are inequitably exposed to multiple severe hazards. …”

Published 2017-11-01“…To do so, the strategic adjustments are examined in the light of the conversational context, the points of view expressed by the speakers and the objectives they would like to reach. Both the Speech-Act theory and the Pragma-Dialectical Approach not only shed light on the relevance of the use of negative interrogative clauses in contexts of disagreement but also help us understand how complex interpersonal relations develop when speakers want to reach an agreement by sharing points of view.…”
