Prospects for the characterization of habitable planets
Published 2023-08-01“…With thousands of exoplanets now identified, the characterization of habitable planets and the potential identification of inhabited ones is a major challenge for the coming decades. We review the current working definition of habitable planets, the upcoming observational prospects for their characterization and present an innovative approach to assess habitability and inhabitation. …”

Detection of exoplanets: exploiting each property of light
Published 2023-08-01“…It is then a subtle effect detected on the starlight that in general indicates the planet’s presence and provides information on some of its characteristics: mass, radius, distance to the star, temperature, etc. As an introduction to the different contributions appearing in this volume, this article proposes a kind of brief review of the various methods imagined by astronomers to exploit one of the properties of the light to succeed in detecting and characterizing exoplanets. …”

The Study of Nebular Emission on Nearby Spiral Galaxies in the IFU Era
Published 2013-01-01“…These observations are allowing us to discover and characterise abundance differentials between galactic substructures and new scaling relations with global physical properties. Here I review some highlights of our current studies employing this technique: (1) the case study of NGC 628, the largest galaxy ever sampled with an IFU; (2) a statistical approach to the abundance gradients of spiral galaxies, which indicates a universal radial gradient for oxygen abundance; and (3) the discovery of a new scaling relation of HII regions in spiral galaxies, the local mass-metallicity relation of star-forming galaxies. …”
