Evaluating Radio Occultation (RO) Constellation Designs Using Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSEs) for Ionospheric Specification
Published 2024-08-01“…A different I‐T model is used for the nature run, the Whole Atmosphere Model‐Ionosphere Plasmasphere Electrodynamics (WAM‐IPE), to simulate the period of interest is the St. Patrick's Day storm on March 13–18, 2015. Errors from models and EDP retrieval are realistically accounted for in this study through distinct I‐T models and by retrieving synthetic EDPs through an extension Abel inversion algorithm. …”

Tropical cyclone intensity estimation based on YOLO-NAS using satellite images in real time
Published 2025-02-01“…Meteorologists utilise high-resolution satellite imagery to address this challenge by accurately perceiving the complexities of storm genesis and structure. This research presents a novel method for forecasting the strength of tropical storms using the You Only Look Once-Neural Architecture Search (YOLO-NAS) algorithm, leveraging real-time satellite imagery from the INSAT-3D platform. …”

Simulation of Geomagnetically Induced Currents in a Low‐Latitude 500 kV Power Network During a Solar Superstorm
Published 2022-04-01“…Therefore, understanding the responses of power grids to solar superstorms is crucial for space weather research and emergency preparedness purposes. In this work, we combine the Space Weather Modeling Framework with a ground conductivity model and a model of the Chinese Guangdong 500 kV power grid to investigate the response of the whole power grid if the 23 July 2012 solar superstorm had struck the Earth. …”

Cancer Loyalty Card Study (CLOCS): protocol for an observational case–control study focusing on the patient interval in ovarian cancer diagnosis
Published 2020-09-01“…We propose a case–control study, as part of a larger project called the Cancer Loyalty Card Study (CLOCS), to investigate whether a significant change in medication purchases could be an indication for early signs of ovarian cancer, using data already collected through store loyalty cards. Methods and analysis Using a retrospective case–control design, we aim to recruit 500 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer (cases) and 500 women without ovarian cancer (controls) in the UK who hold a loyalty card with at least one participating high street retailer. …”

TCP-friendly streaming medium transmitting mechanism in wireless network
Published 2007-01-01“…To maintain Streaming media services flows friendly to TCP flows and h/ld the QoS of the streaming service in wireless networks,an adaptive rate control mechanism was proposed.Packet loss between.etwork congestion and wireless link error was distinguished to ’et the accurate state of the networks by the receiver.Occupati/n of the receiver buffer, which reflected how long the temporar)ly stored streaming medium data could be played, was also combined into this algorithm. And tradeoff between TCP-friendly and QoS of streaming media service was achieved through multi-level rate adjustment according to packet loss rate of congestion and queue length of receiver. The results of simulations show that good throughput was gained compared with TCP and TFRC,at most reaching 2M,in condition of 0-0.1 link drop rate,2 and 32 conncections. As link error and congestion was seperated by WTFCC,therefor, end to end packet drop rate was higher than TCP and TFRC,and also of higer throughput.Nomalized throughput indicated that WTFCC was friendly to TCP.…”
