Diachronous Accumulation of Mid‐Pleistocene Gravel Beds Driven by Tectonics Across the Tibetan Plateau
Published 2025-04-01“…Integrating our new observation with previous studies on other gravel beds across the Tibetan Plateau, we reveal diachronous depositional ages of these gravel beds ranging from 1.37 to 0.56 Myr. Given the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of gravel beds, we infer that tectonic uplift primarily governed the accumulation of the low‐elevation (<2,400 m) gravel beds, whereas the interplay between tectonics and climate change shaped most high‐elevation (>2,400 m) gravel beds across the plateau.…”

Characteristics of productivity for the Academy Bay (Okhotsk Sea)
Published 2025-04-01“…The more productive area with the highest biomass of zooplankton was found in the northern Academy Bay enriched by nutrients transferred there from the Okhotsk Sea due to patterns of the estuarine circulation, but the thickest sound-diffusing layer was observed in the southern and central parts of the bay where it was presumably formed by shoals of juvenile fish rather than copepod aggregations. …”

Effects of Monsoon Circulation on Bedload Transport in the Qiongzhou Strait and Adjacent Seas Based on SCHISM
Published 2025-04-01“…This study quantitatively investigates monsoon-driven bedload sediment transport mechanisms in the Qiongzhou Strait using the SCHISM model, revealing three key findings: (1) Monsoon seasonality governs net sediment flux through contrasting hydrodynamic regimes, with the winter monsoon establishing spatially coherent westward transport pathways, while the summer monsoon induces counteracting flow patterns that suppress net transport. (2) Winter conditions exhibit opposing transport vectors between tidal and monsoon forcing at both strait entrances, with monsoon dominance at the western entrance contrasting tidal predominance in the eastern sector. (3) Summer monsoon–tide hydrodynamic decoupling results in transport magnitudes ≤ 10% of tidal-driven quantities across critical cross-sections. …”
