Robust Projections of Changing Precipitation Evenness in a Warming Climate by Hsin Hsu, Stephan Fueglistaler

    Published 2025-05-01
“…Changes in temporal evenness of local‐daily precipitation show a complex geographic pattern. However, particularly over land, we show that a simple theoretical scaling explains this complexity to result from increased precipitation intensity scaling at about the Clausius‐Clapeyron rate, and a local balance between changes in annual‐mean precipitation and dry‐day fraction. …”

Performance Evaluation of CLM5 in Simulating Evapotranspiration over Pearl River Basin by WANG Dayang

    Published 2022-01-01
“…To investigate the simulation performance of the Community Land Model version 5 (CLM5) in simulating terrestrial evapotranspiration, this paper simulated the surface processes in the Pearl River Basin (PRB) from 1989 to 2018 with CLM5.For validation, the remote sensing-based GLEAM ET products were used as reference for the evaluation of the model's simulation performance. The evaluation was based on temporal variability analysis and spatial pattern analysis. The results show that CLM5 underestimates the evapotranspiration in the PRB to varying degrees, with the relative error of average annual evapotranspiration being -16.07% in the basin. The underestimation is mainly attributed to the underestimation of low evapotranspiration in the cold season. …”

Soil and Water Conservation Effects of Contour Reverse Slope Terraces on Red Clay Sloping Farmland against Short and Heavy Rainfall by Bingyan Huang, Zhikui Liu

    Published 2023-01-01
“…To explore the effect and applicability of contour reverse slope terraces in water and soil conservation of karstic red clay soil area in northern Guangxi, rainfall simulation experiments were conducted on bare red clay soil slopes laid with contour reverse slope terraces to find the erosion pattern in response to different rainfall intensities (15, 30, and 50 mm/h) and bedrock porosities (1%, 3%, and 5%). …”

Distributed Representations of Lexical Sets and Prototypes in Causal Alternation Verbs by Edoardo Maria Ponti, Bernardo Magnini, Elisabetta Jezek

    Published 2017-06-01
“…Having studied several vector models, we find that 1) based on spatial distance from the centroid, object fillers are scattered uniformly across the category, whereas intransitive subject fillers lie on its edge; 2) a correlation exists between the amount of verb senses and that of clusters discovered automatically, especially for intransitive subjects; 3) the distance between the centroids of object and intransitive subject is correlated with other properties of verbs, such as their cross-lingual tendency to appear in the intransitive pattern rather than transitive one. …”

L’écriture du monde (I). by Nicolas Perreaux

    Published 2016-07-01
“…In parallel, an analysis of the authors of the charters allows to show that this phenomenon is related to a transformation of social relations in this phase (X-XIV centuries), and a spatial reorganization. Conversely, unable to define a chrono-geographical pattern for the Early Middle Ages, the article concludes in the existence of another semantics for the charters of that period, which explains both their (relative) scarcity and their specific distribution.…”

Coordinate gene regulation during hematopoiesis is related to genomic organization. by Steven T Kosak, David Scalzo, Sam V Alworth, Fusheng Li, Stephanie Palmer, Tariq Enver, James S J Lee, Mark Groudine

    Published 2007-11-01
“…To examine whether gene regulation is related to a discernible pattern of genomic organization, we analyzed the linear arrangement of co-regulated genes along chromosomes and determined the organization of chromosomes during the differentiation of a hematopoietic progenitor to erythroid and neutrophil cell types. …”

Recent Rebounding of the Post‐Landfall Hurricane Wind Decay Period Over the Continental United States by Yi‐Jie Zhu, Jennifer M. Collins

    Published 2021-03-01
“…In the continental United States, the wind decay period was generally decreasing during 1900–1979 but significantly increased during 1980–2019. The 120‐year trend pattern of the wind decay period has been found to be correlated with the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation. …”
