Movement Characteristics of Typhoon Rainstorm-Triggered Debris Flow in Qinglong Gully Based on Massflow Model by XIONG Chaozheng, JI Feng, SHI Yuchuan

    Published 2023-01-01
“…Typhoon Lekima made landfall on August 10,2019,causing a massive typhoon rainstorm-triggered debris flow in Qinglong Gully located in the middle and low mountainous area of southern Anhui. To deeply explore the movement characteristics of the typhoon rainstorm-triggered debris flow, this study identifies the characteristics, formation conditions, and source distribution of Qinglong Gully. On this basis,it builds a high-precision three-dimensional model of the study area to calculate two working conditions of the non-typhoon rainstorm and typhoon rainstorm. In addition,Massflow, the software for surface-process dynamic numerical analysis,is employed for numerical simulation and comparative analysis of debris-flow movement characteristics. The results show that the typhoon rainstorm-triggered debris flow has a faster forward speed compared with the non-typhoon rainstorm-triggered debris flow.It moves to the monitoring points j1—j5 at 600 s,100 s,1500 s,1 600 s,and 1 900 s,respectively, and the front can cause damage to the channels and buildings along the way in a short time.Three main accumulation areas are formed in the outbreak of the debris flow. The maximum accumulation thickness of the typhoon rainstorm-triggered debris flow is 3.08 m,3.80 m,and 7.75 m,and the accumulation area is 36 324.4 m2,3 700.4 m2,and 32 279.5 m2,respectively.The debris flow has the characteristics of a large height and plane range of influence, which is more likely to cause serious life and property damage to engineering buildings and residents.…”

Structural Constraints in Current Stomatal Conductance Models Preclude Accurate Prediction of Evapotranspiration by Pushpendra Raghav, Mukesh Kumar, Yanlan Liu

    Published 2024-08-01
“…ET is composed of direct evaporation (E) and plant transpiration (T) where the latter is regulated via stomatal conductance (gsc), which depends on a multitude of plant physiological processes and hydrometeorological forcings. In recent years, significant advances have been made toward estimating gsc using a variety of models, ranging from relatively simple empirical models to more complex and data‐intensive plant hydraulic models. …”

Comparative Analysis of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Terrestrial Laser Scanning Application for Coastal Zone Monitoring by Danchenkov Aleksandr, Belov Nikolay

    Published 2023-12-01
“…A comparison of the applicability of means for obtaining digital elevation models to evaluate the dynamics of sand material has been made. In comparison with TLS, the use of UAV with the SfM algorithm is limited to post-storm surveys, since the final accuracy does not provide for reliable lithodynamic studies due to the small scale of processes comparable to measurement errors.…”
