A preliminary clinical study related to vestibular migraine and cognitive dysfunction by Tingting Sun, Yake Lin, Yanan Huang, Yonghui Pan

    Published 2024-12-01
“…In VM-CogD patients presenting with moderate dizziness/vertigo, the DHI total score was negatively correlated with the ACE-R total score (r = 0.539, p-value = 0.008), the DHI-F score was negatively correlated with the language (r = 0.450, p-value = 0.031) and visuospatial functioning part (r = 0.415, p-value = 0.049) scores, and the HADS-D scores were negatively correlated with the ACE-R total score and the part of memory functioning score (r = 0.539, p-value = 0.008).Conclusion(1) VM Patients exhibit multifaceted vestibular dysfunction and varying degrees of cognitive dysfunction, and cognitive function is affected by age, duration of illness, years of education, and vestibular function; (2) VM is a functional disorder, and the function disturbance, in conjunction with anxiety and depression, may participate in the occurrence of development of cognitive dysfunction in VM.…”

Conceptual framework for data harmonisation in mental health using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health: an example with the R2D2-MH consortium by Louise Gallagher, Tony Charman, Dieter Wolke, Jan Buitelaar, Sven Bölte, Emily Jones, Thomas Bourgeron, Marie Schaer, Kristien Hens, Declan Murphy, Melissa H Black, Christine Ecker, Yair Sadaka, Beate St Pourcain, Stef Bonnot-Briey

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Introduction Advancing research and support for neurologically diverse populations requires novel data harmonisation methods that are capable of aligning with contemporary approaches to understanding health and disability. Objectives We present the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as a conceptual framework to support harmonisation of mental health data and present a proof of principle within the Risk and Resilience in Developmental Diversity and Mental Health (R2D2-MH) consortium.Method 138 measures from various mental health datasets were linked to the ICF following the WHO’s established linking rules.Findings Findings support the notion that the ICF can assist in the harmonisation of mental health data. …”

    Published 2024-12-01
“…The archaeological research we carried out between 2020-2023 (pipa bal-saovicente) in the Roman Spa of Termas de São Vicente, in Penafiel, Portugal, in order obtain a better understanding of this archaeological site preserved in the park of the modern spa, provided us with the opportunity to study a singular water heating system, using a piece of bronze discovered in situ at the beginning of 20th century. In this article, we present the results of the research through the formal, analytical and functional study of this object and its archaeological context, which shed light on a new type of structure used in thermal buildings to heat and evaporate the mineral water used in these Roman mineral-medicinal bath complexes.…”
