Sampling Efficiency in Spatially Varying Soils for Slope Stability Assessment by Yajun Li, Cheng Qian, Kang Liu

    Published 2019-01-01
“…Due to the inherent soil spatial variability and usually limited scope of site exploration programs, the design parameters are usually uncertain at locations where test samples are not taken. This uncertainty often propagates to the response of geotechnical structures such as soil slopes. …”

LEO satellite constellation design with multi-QoS guarantee for non-terrestrial network by Ruyan WANG, Xianyi YE, Peng HE, Yaping CUI, Dapeng WU, Fedotov Alexander

    Published 2023-12-01
“…LEO satellite constellation (LSC) offers seamless and fast connectivity for non-terrestrial network (NTN).However, the lack of QoS guarantees for users significantly impacts the performance of the NTN system.Considering multi-QoS metrics, a capacity and downlink budget model for LSC was established, and subsequently, the establishment of inter-satellite links was framed as a link budget issue for the QoS guarantee. The non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (INSGA-II) with improved crossover and mutation operators was proposed to optimize LSC, aiming to maximize coverage and system capacity while minimizing constellation costs. The numerical results demonstrate that the designed LSC exhibits comparable or superior performance to Telesat and Kepler, and its scale is only 64% of the Kepler system.…”

Application of reconfigurable intelligent surface in beamforming and information modulation by Qiang CHENG, Junyan DAI, Junchen KE, Jingcheng LIANG, Siran WANG

    Published 2021-09-01
“…In modern mobile communications, the randomness, uncertainty, and uncontrollability of wireless channels are the pivotalfactors that affect the communication quality, which often leads to the deterioration of the signal quality at the receiving terminal, and thereby limiting the rate and range of information transmission. In the emerging study of 6G technology, reconfigurable intelligent surface is one of the research directions under active discussions, which is an ultra-thin artificial surface composed of sub-wavelength structures with field programmability and spatiotemporal information modulation capabilities. The reconfigurable intelligent surface can manipulate electromagnetic waves accurately and efficiently, thus providing the possibility for reshaping the wireless propagation environment. In this review, the concept of the reconfigurable intelligent surface, the beam forming method based on spatiotemporal modulation, the wireless relay and the communication system based on the reconfigurable intelligent surface were reviewed and discussed. It demonstrates the great potential of reconfigurable intelligent surface in assisting mobile communication, and provides new ideas for the development of 6G.…”
