Comprehensive Evaluation of Production Water Footprint in Shandong Province by ZHANG Min, ZHANG Yu, TIAN Qing, WANG Mengfan

    Published 2024-01-01
“…As a significant economic and populous region, Shandong Province also grapples with water scarcity. The water footprint concept provides a fresh understanding of water resources, revealing the true utilization extent of the resources.A model and evaluation system for measuring the production water footprint is established to assess water resource utilization in the province from 2010 to 2021.The results indicate that the production water footprint in the studied region experiences fluctuations and presents an overall increasing trend during this period, with higher levels in the western and southern regions and lower ones in the eastern and northern areas. The blue, green, and grey water footprints all display a rising trend.Agriculture accounts for the largest proportion among all the sectors. From a comprehensive perspective, the economic benefits of the production water footprint steadily increase, but the per capita carrying capacity of the production water footprint is relatively poor, with a relatively large water resource pressure index.Generally, Shandong faces unsustainable water resources and considerable water pressure, which highlights the need for timely measures to adjust the industrial structure, enhance water-saving technologies, and improve pollution prevention and control to alleviate current water scarcity.…”

Resource scheduling strategy based on simulated annealing algorithm in hybrid D2D cellular networks by Xiang YU, Haibo ZHANG, Lu YANG

    Published 2017-04-01
“…D2D communication is a short distance communication mode in the future 5G network. In the process of communication, the information is transmitted from the sender to the receiver directly, without the need to transmit through the base station. The introduction of D2D communication in the traditional cellular network can greatly improve the total throughput of the system, increase the utilization of spectrum resources and reduce the power consumption of the transmitter.A resource allocation method which was used in hybrid D2D cellular network was mainly introduced, spectrum resources was distributed by Lagrange multiplier method combined with simulated annealing algorithm,a consideration of channel capacity and energy consumption of the resource scheduling strategy based on simulated annealing algorithm was put forward. This algorithm was simulated by the simulation platform in Vienna, compared to the traditional greedy optimization algorithm,it can significantly increase the total system throughput and bandwidth utilization and reduce the power consumption. In addition, the distributed algorithm was adopted, that D2D users searched for a suitable target channel and calculated their transmit power according to the algorithm steps, which reduced the signaling overhead of the base station.…”

Green communication and networking for Carbon-peaking and Carbon-neutrality: challenges and solutions by Zhisheng NIU, Sheng ZHOU, Yuxuan SUN

    Published 2022-02-01
“…Driven by the Carbon-peaking and Carbon-neutrality strategic goals, future mobile communication and networks need to drastically reduce energy consumption while satisfying the growing traffic demand. Therefore, it is necessary to study the theories and technologies used to send more information bits with less energy (SMILE).To meet the challenge, it was far from enough to rely solely on the improvements of wireless transmission technologies and hardware. It was necessary to explore efficient energy utilization mechanisms from the perspective of the system and network. Both energy saving and renewable energy utilization approaches were proposed, and solutions for the growing computing energy consumption were provided.Specifically, by introducing hyper-cellular network, agile coverage and elastic access were realized, and thus service base stations and edge servers could enter the sleeping mode to save energy when the traffic volume was low.Meanwhile, by the introduction of renewable energy and the smart adaption of energy flow and information flow, the energy consumption of the power grid could be greatly reduced.Furthermore, green computing and artificial intelligence could be realized through network function virtualization, energy-efficient coordination of communication and compute resources, and distributed computing and coordination approaches of moving agents.…”
