Research on Flood Impact and River Regime of Skew Bridges Crossing River Bend Based on FVM Method
Published 2021-01-01“…Based on finite volume method (FVM) and two-dimension unstructured grid, taking a skew bridge crossing the river bend as the research object, this paper builds a hydrodynamic model of the upstream and downstream of the bridge, and simulates and analyzes the impact of bridge construction on the upstream and downstream water level, flow velocity and river regime under different frequency floods. The results show that:Due to the water blocking action of the piers, the upstream water level of the bridge increases, the flow velocity between the piers increases, and the flow velocity of water face and back face of the piers decreases. As there is a angle between piers of the skew bridge and the natural river course, the water level on the left bank in the downstream rises and the right bank in the downstream drops. The flow velocity and sediment-carrying capacity on the left bank increases compared to those before the project, while those on the right bank decreases, and the affected area was concentrated in the river section near the bridge location. The river section where the bridge is located is bent. The bridge can play a positive role in preventing the siltation of convex bank (left bank) and the scour of concave bank (right bank) downstream the bridge. The research results can provide reference for the design of skew bridge.…”

Two different perspectives on heatwaves within the Lagrangian framework
Published 2025-01-01“…The current study quantifies these processes using an Eulerian method based on tracer advection, which allows one to extract Lagrangian information. For each grid point at any time, the method yields a decomposition of temperature anomalies into the aforementioned processes, complemented by the contribution of a pre-existing anomaly. …”

Effect of Free‐Stream Turbulence on the Power Performance and Wake Characteristics of Paired Counter‐Rotating Vertical‐Axis Wind Turbines
Published 2025-02-01“…The experiments were conducted under two different turbulence intensities, 0.39% and 6.7%, with the latter being achieved by placing a passive wooden grid in the wind tunnel. The mechanical power output of the turbines was measured through torque and angular speed sensors, and the wake up to six rotor diameters downstream of paired VAWTs was characterised using constant temperature anemometry. …”

How to Develop Renewable Power in China? A Cost-Effective Perspective
Published 2014-01-01“…Results show that (1) the optimal accumulated installed capacities of wind power, solar power, and biomass power will reach 169000, 20000, and 30000 MW in 2020; (2) the developments of renewable power show the intermittent feature; (3) the unit investment costs of wind power, solar power, and biomass power will be 4500, 11500, and 5700 Yuan/KW in 2020; (4) the discounting effect dominates the learning curve effect for solar and biomass powers; (5) the rise of on-grid ratio of renewable power will first promote the development of wind power and then solar power and biomass power.…”
