Technology of Laser Cladding Ceramics on Heat Resistant Steel Surface by LIU Lijun, WANG Xiaolu, SHEN Xiuqiang, SONG Yuanzeng

    Published 2020-02-01
“…Heat resistance steel type of H13 is used for the aircraft structure parts whose working temperature is 400~500℃ Moreover, it is required to wear resistance for the parts in some special service environments In order to solve the problem of wear failure in hot work dies during service, a low power laser type of Nd:YAG was used to cladding SiC ceramics on the surface of H13 steel The macroscopic feature, microstructures and compositions were observed by the metalloscope, scanning electron microscope and energy depressive spectroscopy Experimental results indicated that that the cross sections of the cladding sample were markedly divisional (Clad Zone, Fusion zone, Heataffected zone, Substrate Zone) The microstructure of cladding layer is nondirectional and compact, without obvious crack and porosity and with good performance The homogeneous microstructure of bonding layer is dendrite and equiaxed grain with small size, and the massive columnar crystal grew from the bond line of H13 steel substrate to fusion zone The wear resistance of laser cladding ceramics on heat resistance steel surface is analyzedBesides, a through crack appeared after the scanning speed up to 40mm/min、60mm/min on the cladding layer as the hard and brittle characteristic of SiC ceramics and the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between SiC ceramics and substrate; The above research results provide some theoretical support for improving the surface wear resistance of aircraft heatresistant parts.…”

Study on the Corrosion Behavior of Rare Earth / Niobium Microalloyed Steels in Marine Atmospheric Environments by ZHANG Xian, HU Hong-yi, GONG Li, WANG Zhi-yuan, PENG Ding, ZHU Chang-jin, WEI Wen-zhui, WU Kai-ming

    Published 2021-06-01
“…For providing the data support to design and develop microalloyzed steels, the corrosion behavior of rare earth microalloyed steels and niobium microalloyed steels in marine atmospheric environments was investigated by the means of surface microstructure characterization, alternative wet/dry cycle test, neutral salt spray test and electrochemical measurements.Furthermore, the corrosion resistance of microalloyed steels was compared and analyzed. Results showed that the microstructure of microalloyed steels consisted of ferrite and pearlite, and niobium microalloying favored the refinements of the grains and hindered the formation of pearlite. The rust layer was composed of for γ-Fe2O3 and γ-FeOOH, which had no obvious protective effect to the substrate. With prolonging exposure periods, γ-FeOOH gradually transformed to α-FeOOH, enhancing the protective effect to the substrate. The corrosion current density of rare earth/niobium microalloyed steels declined, and thus the corrosion resistance of those two kinds of steels were improved. After a long period of corrosion, the grain refinement of niobium microalloyed steel was beneficial to increase the densification of the surface rust layer and the content of α-FeOOH was relatively high, then further the corrosion rate was reduced.Hence, compared with rare earth microalloyzed steel, the niobium microalloyed steels presented a better atmospheric corrosion resistance.…”

Study on the Performance of Cold Spray Stainless Steel Coatings on Aluminum Alloy Surfaces by LIU Chenyang, JIANG Beiping, HUANG Guosheng, MA Li, JIANG Dan, MA Bojiang

    Published 2024-11-01
“…To study the effects of cold spraying process parameters on the performance of 430 stainless steel coatings on the surface of 3003 aluminum alloy,430 stainless steel magnetic conductive coatings were prepared on the surface of 3003 aluminum cookware using three different cold spraying process parameters. The microstructure, bonding strength and resistance to thermal shock of the coatings were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM),tensile testing and thermal shock testing. Results showed that when spraying 430 stainless steel coating on the surface of 3003 aluminum alloy, the degree of oxidation and bonding strength of coatings increased with higher spraying temperatures and pressures. The oxygen content of the coatings reached a maximum of 0.55%(mass fraction),and the bonding strength achieved a maximum of 31.78 MPa.The porosity decreased as the spraying temperature and pressure increased, reaching a minimum of 1.2%.The electrical conductivity ranged from 1.07 to 1.27 MS/m.During thermal shock testing over 100 cycles, the bonding strength decreased from 31.78 MPa to 28.67 MPa,with only a small reduction, and the electrical conductivity decreased to 1.05 MS/m.These results demonstrated that increasing cold spraying temperature and pressure significantly improved the microstructure and bonding properties of the coatings, thereby enhancing their reliability during use.Additionally, the cold-sprayed coatings exhibited excellent characteristics, including high bonding strength, low porosity and low oxidation levels, making this process highly advantageous for the production of magnetic conductive coatings on cookware.…”
