Les territorialités nocturnes à La Réunion : des rapports à la nuit en recomposition by Magalie Franchomme, Johan Milian, Samuel Challéat, Tanguy Fourrier

    Published 2023-11-01
“…For several decades now, the island has seen its countryside undergo a profound transformation, some of which have been marked by the exodus, while others have been swallowed up in an uncontrolled urbanization process. It is in this context that our team, in partnership with the National Park of Reunion Island, has begun to set up a more comprehensive approach to the protection of the nocturnal environment and to bring social issues into the public debate, by bringing to the forefront, alongside light pollution and its ecological effects, the question of the specific temporalities of the nocturnal environment by taking into account perceptions, practices and modes of daily living.…”

DPM-based method for tracking maneuvering targets in wireless sensor networks by LIN Jin-zhao1, LI Guo-jun2, ZHOU Xiao-na2, ZHOU Dao-jun 2, JIANG Yong 2

    Published 2010-01-01
“…Focused on energy efficiency issues under tracking targets within WSN,a new dynamic power management(DPM) method for tracking distributed targets was proposed combining with the network energy consumption model and wake-up mechanism. With precedent location information of maneuvering target, the algorithm involved both cancelling noise by wavelet filter and predicting target state by autoregressive transformation is introduced to awaken wireless sensor nodes so that their sleep time is prolonged and energy consumption is reduced.According to the current location of maneuvering target, related nodes in an appointed cluster of WSN constitute a distributed dynamic tracking unit, and the cluster head is responsible for collecting the measurement information from the nodes in the tracking unit.A locating algorithm based on the relative posi-tion of two circulars formed on the bases of measurement information is adopted to simplify the process of locatiny and tracking target.Simulation results show that the DPM-based method can reduce the nodes’ energy consumption, meet the locating and tracking accuracy, and can be applied to locate and track the maneuvering targets on the earth surface.…”

Sensor Node Deployment Optimization for Continuous Coverage in WSNs by Haris Muhammad, Haewoon Nam

    Published 2025-06-01
“…Optimizing sensor node coverage remains a central challenge in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), where premature convergence and suboptimal solutions in traditional optimization methods often lead to coverage gaps and uneven node distribution. To address these issues, this paper presents a novel velocity-scaled adaptive search factor particle swarm optimization (VASF-PSO) algorithm that integrates dynamic mechanisms to enhance population diversity, guide the search process more effectively, and reduce uncovered areas. …”
