Microbiome-driven gene dysregulation in oesophageal cancer: a multi-omics analysis
Published 2025-07-01“…Studies have identified microbial shifts in oesophageal adenocarcinoma, particularly involving species such as Fusobacterium nucleatum, Campylobacter spp. and Porphyromonas gingivalis, which may contribute to carcinogenesis through immune modulation and epithelial remodeling.4,5 This study integrated host transcriptomics (GSE234304)6 and microbial circulating cell-free (cf)RNA profiling (GSE174302)7 to uncover microbiome-driven gene dysregulation in oesophageal cancer and explored its implications for early detection and therapeutic targeting. …”

BLIS Fingerprinting as a Tool to Investigate the Distribution and Significance of Bacteriocin Production and Immunity in Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus salivari...
Published 2025-05-01“…In S. pyogenes, lantibiotic production has been implicated in virulence modulation, raising important questions about its role in pathogenicity and host immune evasion. Conversely, S. salivarius, a prominent commensal and probiotic candidate species, utilizes its lantibiotic arsenal to confer colonization benefits and mediate beneficial interactions, especially within the oral and upper respiratory tract microbiomes. …”

eDNA‐Based Detection of Invasive Crayfish and Crayfish Plague in Estonia
Published 2025-05-01“…Detection of P. virginalis was only observed in samples with amplifications below the limit of detection, and A. astaci eDNA was found in only one water body hosting invasive crayfish species. Although we could not establish a convincing quantitative correlation between the estimated P. leniusculus eDNA concentration and crayfish population density, we conclude that the eDNA approach is promising and, with further optimization, it can be integrated into routine monitoring of crayfish and crayfish plague pathogen as a supplement to traditional trapping methods.…”
