Functional Bracing After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstructions: A Review of the Current Literature
Published 2025-08-01“…Key Concepts: (1) Functional knee braces have been shown to reduce anterior tibial translation in controlled conditions but show inconsistent effects on rotational forces and valgus stability during dynamic activities. (2) Clinical studies offer conflicting evidence on the effectiveness of functional bracing in reducing ACL re-tear rates, with no consensus on routine use. (3) Patient-specific factors, including graft type, compliance, and baseline knee stability, may influence the effectiveness of functional bracing. (4) Psychological benefits, such as reduced fear of reinjury, may contribute to the value of bracing, though effects on proprioception and muscle strength are mixed. (5) Further research is needed, particularly with dynamic, sport-specific testing, to determine the true efficacy of functional bracing in ACL reconstruction recovery.…”

Circulating CD8 T cells from patients with mild-to-moderate psoriasis are functionally impaired
Published 2025-05-01“…BackgroundPsoriasis is a systemic, immune-mediated, inflammatory skin disease in which T cells have been found to play a significant role. The phenotypic and functional properties of circulating CD8 T cells in the pathogenesis of the disease are still ill-defined.ObjectiveThis study aimed to assess changes in the phenotype, activation status and mediator release of CD8 T cells in the peripheral blood of patients with mild-to-moderate psoriasis.MethodsPeripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with mild-to-moderate psoriasis and healthy individuals were used to investigate the CD8 T cell immune phenotype and mediator release upon in vitro TCR-independent (phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) plus ionomycin (ION)) or TCR-dependent (anti-CD3/CD28) activation by flow cytometry.ResultsPatients with psoriasis exhibited reduced circulating CD8 memory T cell frequency compared to healthy controls. …”

Role of USP7 in the regulation of tolerogenic dendritic cell function in type 1 diabetes
Published 2025-04-01“…Abstract Background Tolerogenic dendritic cells (toDCs) are critical for maintaining immune homeostasis and preventing autoimmune disease development, such as type 1 diabetes (T1D). We have previously shown that DCs of non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice expressing active Stat5b (Stat5b-CA.DCs) acquire toDCs signature and protect against diabetes. …”
