Testing source elevation versus genotype as predictors of sugar pine performance in a post‐fire restoration planting by Emily V. Moran, Rainbow DeSilva, Courtney Canning, Jessica W. Wright

Published 2024-10-01
“…We found that source elevation was generally better at predicting seedling performance than genotype indices, perhaps because of the limited scope of the association analysis. …”

Four decades of spatio-temporal trends in Miankaleh Wetland´s water body and vegetation as revealed by remote sensing time series by Nima Arij, Hooman Latifi, Arvin Fakhri, Rohollah Esmaili

Published 2025-11-01
“…The results underscore significant ecological shifts, particularly the reduction of water bodies, which threaten the wetland's functionality. We provide general and case-specific considerations on the sole and complementary application of non-parametric trend analysis approaches, expanding insights into ecological processes in coastal wetlands with broader implications for similar ecosystems.…”

Characterization and Expression Analysis of the Sterol C-5 Desaturase Gene PcERG3 in the Mycobiont of the Lichen Peltigera canina Under Abiotic Stresses by Moatasem A. Swid, Milana V. Koulintchenko, Alfred O. Onele, Ilya Y. Leksin, Daniya F. Rakhmatullina, Ekaterina I. Galeeva, Julia N. Valitova, Farida V. Minibayeva, Richard P. Beckett

Published 2025-07-01
“…The differential expression of PcERG3 in response to temperature stress, a dehydration/rehydration cycle, and heavy metal exposure suggests that it plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance between more and less saturated sterols and, more generally, in membrane functioning. The multifaceted response of P. canina to abiotic stresses was documented by simultaneously measuring changes in the expression of PcERG3, as well as the genes encoding the heat shock proteins, PcHSP20 and PcHSP98, and PcSOD1, which encodes the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase. (4) Conclusions: These findings suggest that PcERG3 is similar to the sterol C-5 desaturases from related and free-living fungi and plays important roles in the molecular mechanisms underlying the tolerance of lichens to environmental stress.…”

Cognitive impairment across the schizophrenia spectrum: a comparative neuropsychological study by Xiao-Yan He, An-Pei Wei, Zhuo-Hui Huang, Fei Wang, Li Li Guo, Cai-Lan Hou

Published 2025-05-01
“…Verbal memory: Hopkins Verbal Learning Test-Revised (HVLT-R).Visual memory: Brief Visuospatial Memory Test-Revised (BVMT-R). Executive function: Stroop Color and Word Test (SCWT). Group differences were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (covariates: age, education) with Bonferroni correction, supplemented by multinomial logistic regression.ResultsA stepwise gradient of impairment emerged across the schizophrenia spectrum (HC > FDR > CHR > FEP > MECS), with significant between-group differences (p<0.001) persisting after covariate adjustment. …”
