Extraction of Physical Parameters of RRab Variables Using Neural Network Based Interpolator by Nitesh Kumar, Harinder P. Singh, Oleg Malkov, Santosh Joshi, Kefeng Tan, Philippe Prugniel, Anupam Bhardwaj

    Published 2025-06-01
“…Determining the physical parameters of pulsating variable stars such as RR Lyrae is essential for understanding their internal structure, pulsation mechanisms, and evolutionary state. In this study, we present a machine learning framework that uses feedforward artificial neural networks (ANNs) to infer stellar parameters—mass (<i>M</i>), luminosity (log(<inline-formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><mi>L</mi><mo>/</mo><msub><mi>L</mi><mo>⊙</mo></msub></mrow></semantics></math></inline-formula>)), effective temperature (log(<inline-formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><msub><mi>T</mi><mi>eff</mi></msub></semantics></math></inline-formula>)), and metallicity (<i>Z</i>)—directly from Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) light curves. …”

Pressure-Amplified Structural Superiority in Silty Clays: Dynamic Divergence Between Undisturbed and Remolded States by Jinhu Hu, Banglong Zhou, Penggang Li, Jing Wang, Yayuan Yang

    Published 2025-07-01
“…The experimental results reveal that: (1) Undisturbed soils exhibit 20–30% higher maximum shear stress (<i>τdmax</i>) and shear modulus (<i>Gdmax</i>) than remolded counterparts at 300 kPa, far exceeding the <5% deviation at 50 kPa due to enhanced particle-cementation synergy under pressure. (2) The normalized shear modulus ratio (<i>Gd</i>/<i>Gdmax</i>) exhibits low sensitivity to confining pressure, with <i>Gd</i>/<i>Gdmax</i>–<i>γd</i> relationship curves predominantly confined within a narrow band range. A triphasic evolutionary characteristic is manifested in the progressive reduction of <i>Gd</i>/<i>Gdmax</i> with increasing shear strain (<i>γd</i>), and quasi-linear attenuation is observed within the shear strain range of 1 × 10−4 ≤ <i>γd</i> ≤ 1 × 10−2. (3) Remolded and undisturbed specimens demonstrate close correspondence in damping ratio (<i>λd</i>) across consolidation pressures. …”
