Effects of N-glycosylation site removal in archaellins on the assembly and function of archaella in Methanococcus maripaludis. by Yan Ding, Kaoru Uchida, Shin-Ichi Aizawa, Kathleen Murphy, Alison Berezuk, Cezar M Khursigara, James P J Chong, Ken F Jarrell

    Published 2015-01-01
“…Disruption of the N-linked glycosylation pathway is known to cause defects in archaella assembly or function. Here, we explored the potential requirement of N-glycosylation of archaellins on archaellation by investigating the effects of eliminating the 4 N-glycosylation sites in the wildtype FlaB2S2 protein in all possible combinations either by Asn to Glu (N to Q) substitution or Asn to Asp (N to D) substitutions of the N-glycosylation sequon asparagine. …”

Effects of smoking on renal function and pathological changes in idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) patients by LUAN Ru-mei, ZHENG Qian, CI Xin, LU Xue-hong

    Published 2020-01-01
“…Renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis and vascular disease were more severe in smokers, multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis revealed that smoking increased the risk of renal interstitial fibrosis(OR=6.42,P<0.05),vascular wall thickening(OR=4.71,P<0.05) and vitreous degeneration of blood vessels(OR=7.43,P<0.05) in IMN patients. Conclusions Smoking has a certain damage effect on renal function of IMN patients, and is an independent risk factor for renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis, vascular wall thickening and vitreous degeneration of blood vessels in IMN patients.…”
