Tribological characteristics of Al–Mg–Si–Cu alloy against die steel under elevated temperatures in simulated hot extrusion environment
Published 2025-01-01“…Friction is a considerable boundary condition in aluminum alloy hot extrusion. In this study, ball-on-disc friction tests at temperatures of 25–500 °C were performed to equivalently simulate the interface tribological behaviors between Al–Mg–Si–Cu alloy and die steel in hot extrusion. …”

Creep of Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu solder in electronic packaging: Experiment and simulation
Published 2025-01-01“…In contemporary society, the growing reliance on electronic devices has necessitated the phasing out of traditional Sn–Pb solder due to its health hazards, prompting a transition to environmentally friendly, lead-free alternatives. This study aims to address the challenges of poor interfacial reliability and high cost associated with eutectic Sn–Ag–Cu solders by investigating the creep properties and service life of a low-silver solder alloy, Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu, as a filler material. The creep behavior of Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu was analyzed through creep testing, and fracture modes were identified via microstructural and fracture surface analysis. The Anand viscoplastic model was employed to simulate and calibrate the creep behavior, with its accuracy validated via thermal cycling experiments.Furthermore, the creep behavior of Ball Grid Array (BGA) solder joints was simulated using Abaqus software to examine the impact of creep on joint longevity and the influence of temperature on performance.…”

A New Mathematical Model for Food Thermal Process Prediction
Published 2013-01-01“…A mathematical model was developed to correlate the four heat penetration parameters of 57 Stumbo’s tables (18,513 datasets) in canned food: g (the difference between the retort and the coldest point temperatures in the canned food at the end of the heating process), fh/U (the ratio of the heating rate index to the sterilizing value), z (the temperature change required for the thermal destruction curve to traverse one log cycle), and Jcc, (the cooling lag factor). The quantities g, z, and Jcc, are input variables for predicting fh/U, while z, Jcc and fh/U are input variables for predicting the value of g, which is necessary to calculate the heating process time B, at constant retort temperature, using Ball’s formula. …”
