Deformation Response and Safety Evaluation of Buildings Affected by Subway-Station Construction
Published 2021-01-01“…Results show that the horizontal distance s between the building and foundation pit and stiffness of the building itself have a clear impact on the differential settlement δij and relative deflection Δ, and the degree of deformation of the building near the corner of the foundation pit is complex. Simultaneously, based on numerical simulation results, the deformation characteristics and degree of deformation of the building under different relative position relationships with the foundation pit are analyzed. …”

Dynamic Analysis of the Guiding Shoe considering Contact Gap and Pose Disturbance
Published 2024-01-01“…The results indicate that the swing around the x-axis has the most significant impact on the guiding shoe, with stress concentration primarily occurring near the corner of the trench. The posture of swinging solely around the y-axis weakens the supporting effect of the guide shoe, resulting in stress concentration on the end face of the left side face. …”

Thermal comfort in green Malaysian office: Objective versus subjective evaluation
Published 2025-01-01“…It was found that, although the PMV model suggested a slightly cool atmosphere occupants experienced a cooler sensation than expected. The divergence highlights the inadequacies of measuring thermal comfort solely based on objective measures and stresses the necessity of incorporating occupant feedback into the assessment process. …”

Southern Pine Beetle, Dendroctonus frontalis Zimmermann (Insecta: Coleoptera: Scolytidae)
Published 2004-03-01“…These fungi colonize xylem tissue and block water flow within the tree, also causing tree mortality (Thatcher and Conner 1985). Consequently, once SPB have successfully colonized a tree, the tree cannot survive, regardless of control measures. his document is EENY-176 (originally published as DPI Entomology Circular 369), one of the Featured Creatures series of the Entomology and Nematology Department, Cooperative Extension Service, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida. …”

Adaptive Vibration Control System for MR Damper Faults
Published 2015-01-01“…A robust LPV observer is proposed to estimate the lack of force caused by a damper leakage in a vehicle corner. Once the faulty damper is isolated in the vehicle and the fault is estimated, an Adaptive Vibration Control System is proposed to reduce the fault effect using compensation forces from the remaining healthy dampers. …”

Eco-driving optimal control for electric vehicles with driver preferences
Published 2025-03-01“…An optimal control formulation of an eco-driving system for front-wheel drive electric vehicles is proposed in this paper, demonstrating that including an optimal control model of driver preferences in such systems can successfully blend the objective of energy-efficiency with the subjective goals of human drivers, including desired following distances and time headways, a desired vehicle speed, smooth vehicle acceleration, and a comfortable corner negotiation speed. This builds on previous works that developed driver preference models for optimal control, but did not apply them to a realistic model of an EV powertrain to evaluate potential energy savings in practice. …”
