Multiple parafoveal retinal detachment in myopic tractional maculopathy
Published 2024-12-01“…This study investigates the occurrence of multiple parafoveal retinal detachments (RDs) in myopic traction maculopathy (MTM), emphasizing the atypical extrafoveal involvement compared to central foveal detachment commonly observed. Patient 1, a 46-year-old male, exhibited MTM with retinoschisis and four small subretinal fluid (SRF) pockets inferior to the fovea, accompanied by a hyperautofluorescent vitelliform deposit. …”

Indigenous Theatre as Resistance: Toronto as a Nexus for Canada’s Burgeoning Indigenous Theatre Scene from Late 1980s to Early 1990s
Published 2023-09-01“…By taking a closer look at Canada’s first Indigenous Theatre company, Native Earth Performing Arts, which is based in Toronto, as well as analyzing two fundamental texts, Drew Hayden Taylor’s (Curve Lake First Nations) Toronto at Dreamer’s Rock and Daniel David Moses’ (Delaware/Tuscarora) Almighty Voice and His Wife, this paper will trace the common themes in these two texts that were prevalent in the work of this time, as well as unpack the connection these plays have to place, specifically in their relation to Toronto and the Indigenous Theatre scene there.…”

Study on Reduction of Water Fins in the Middle Pier of the Spillway of Miaotang Reservoir
Published 2022-01-01“…The water fin phenomenon is a common hydraulic phenomenon behind the piers in the gate chambers of discharge structures such as spillways and spillway tunnels.Considering the serious water fin phenomenon at the tail of the middle pier of the spillway of Miaotang Reservoir,a model test with a scale of 1:30 is used to compare and study the three types of middle piers. The results reveal that the water flow of two holes meets and collides behind the elliptical middle pier of Type 1 to form a large-scale water fin.The middle pier of Type 2 has a limited effect in reducing the water fins at the tail of the pier in the spillway, and strong collision still occurs behind the pier. The front and rear ends of the tail middle pier of Type 3 are connected by streamlined curves to ensure that the water flows smoothly along the streamlined surface of the tail pier, and thus sudden changes in flow speed can be avoided to effectively reduce the scale of the water fin.In this way,the discharge flow is smooth, and the discharge flow pattern is significantly improved. The research results can provide a reference for similar engineering.…”

Practical solutions for overcoming artificial disulfide scrambling in the non-reduced peptide mapping characterization of monoclonal antibodies
Published 2024-12-01“…However, conventional digestive strategies used throughout the biopharmaceutical industry have been shown to cause unintentional rearrangement of disulfide connections (disulfide scrambling), thus generating connectivity profiles that do not accurately represent the protein being analyzed. Common misconceptions (e.g. avoiding basic-pH digestion to prevent disulfide scrambling) have led to the development of alternative reagents and conditions that can alleviate this issue, but yield problematic digestion profiles. …”

Recovery of Cerium Dioxide from Spent Glass-Polishing Slurry and Its Utilization as a Reactive Sorbent for Fast Degradation of Toxic Organophosphates
Published 2015-01-01“…The recovery of cerium (and possibly other rare earth elements) from the spent glass-polishing slurries is rather difficult because of a high resistance of polishing-grade cerium oxide toward common digestion agents. It was shown that cerium may be extracted from the spent polishing slurries by leaching with strong mineral acids in the presence of reducing agents; the solution may be used directly for the preparation of a ceria-based reactive sorbent. …”
