Evaluation and estimation of changes in water quality using zoning map and researchers-developed software (case study: Pir-Bazar river) by Majid Homami, Seyed Ahmad Mirbagheri, Seyed Mehdi Borghei, Madjid Abbaspour

    Published 2017-09-01
“…In this research, zoning maps were prepared and the status of present and future water quality parameters of the basin were accurately estimated using a researchers software-developed application and the five interpolation methods of Kriging, S-PLUS, polynomial regression, inverse distance to power, and local polynomial; and finally the optimal method was selected through a root-mean-square error (RMSE) based cross validation approach.  Result and discussion: The results showed that in this drainage basin, the second order quadratic polynomial regression (with a mean RMSE of 0.2075 for TN and of 0.1475 for TP) and the topical polynomial with power of 10 (order of 3) (with a mean RMSE of 0.331 for TN and of 0.22 for TP) were the best and the worst methods for estimation of nitrate and phosphate levels in the drainage basin, respectively, as compared to other methods. …”

Are interpersonal communication skills adequately taught at postgraduate specialist level in South Africa? The neurology experience by Anand Moodley, Anton van Aswegen, Liesl Smit

    Published 2021-06-01
“…Both groups felt strongly that postgraduate training in interpersonal communication was important (registrars 95.2%, specialists 91.9%), especially when dealing with issues of death and dying, disclosing medical errors and dealing with the legal profession. Conclusion: Postgraduate training of interpersonal communication as required of neurology registrars and neurologists was considered insufficient. …”

DYNAMOMETRIC EQUIPMENT FOR MEASURING THE COMPONENTS OF CUTTING STRENGTHS WHEN PROCESSING MATERIALS WITH AXIAL TOOLS by R. V. Guseynov

    Published 2018-06-01
“…The relative measurement error is calculated.Conclusion. The dynamometric equipment makes it possible to record the periodic and quasiperiodic oscillations of two components of the cutting forces without distortion for various tapping, drilling and countersinking processes, occurring at a frequency of up to 1500 Hz in real time mode, and can be used to optimise the cutting parameters. …”

А quantitative estimate of uncertainty of the random scattering of the average clearance and interference in mating by N. N. Chigrik

    Published 2022-11-01
“…Actual dimensions of suitable parts made according to the same drawings can fluctuate between the given limit dimensions, and the clearances and interferences in the conjugations — depending on the random scattering of the actual dimensions with the deviation of the shape of the real surface or profile. The error of the shape of the real surface affects the probabilistic estimate of the results of sorting parts, leads to uncertainty in the size of the maximum of the material, a random scattering of the average clearance and interference in the mating and, as a consequence — the uncertainty to use all that come in for assembly of parts. …”
