Distribution and Evolution of Chorus Waves Modeled by a Neural Network: The Importance of Imbalanced Regression
Published 2023-10-01“…Abstract Whistler‐mode chorus waves play an essential role in the acceleration and loss of energetic electrons in the Earth’s inner magnetosphere, with the more intense waves producing the most dramatic effects. …”

Quantifying the Spatiotemporal Evolution of Radiation Belt Electrons Scattered by Lower Band Chorus Waves: An Integrated Model
Published 2024-08-01“…Here we present a new model, by integrating the machine learning technique and kinetic simulations, to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution of radiation belt electrons scattered by lower band chorus (LBC). Compared to the observations, our integrated model produces effectively the global distribution of plasmapause location, plasma density, and LBC intensity, and assesses quantitatively the scattering effect driven by LBC waves at different magnetic local times (MLT), L‐shell (the Mcllwain L‐parameter), and time. …”

Enhanced Radiation Levels at Aviation Altitudes and Their Relationship to Plasma Waves in the Inner Magnetosphere
Published 2023-10-01“…The results show that there is a strong correlation between dose rates observed by ARMAS and plasmaspheric hiss wave power measured by the Van Allen Probes, but no such relationship with electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves and only a modest correlation with whistler mode chorus waves. These results suggest that the space environment could have a potentially significant effect on passenger safety.…”

Characterization of soundscapes with acoustic indices and clustering reveals phenology patterns in a subtropical rainforest
Published 2025-02-01“…Our results demonstrated that in environments with complex soundscapes, this approach effectively distinguished predominant acoustic elements, including cicadas, orthopterans, rain, and frogs, constituting more than 10–20% of the total audio recordings, and identified smaller yet significant groups, such as avian dawn choruses, accounting for approximately 2% of the recordings. …”
