Erectile dysfunction in patient with obstructive sleep apnea: effects of continuous positive airway pressure by Hyeyun Kim, Keun Tae Kim, Won Chul Shin, Kwang Ik Yang, Ji Yong Ha, Yong Won Cho

    Published 2024-12-01
“…This study explored ED in Korean OSA patients and assessed the impact of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy on ED.Methods A total of 87 male patients with OSA from four different sleep centers underwent physical measurements and completed sleep and mental health (MH) questionnaires, including the Korean version of the International index of erectile function (IIEF), before and three months after initiating CPAP therapy. Results After three months of CPAP therapy, the patients demonstrated a significant improvement in ED as measured on the IIEF. …”

CEEMDAN-MRAL Transformer Vibration Signal Fault Diagnosis Method Based on FBG by Hong Jiang, Zhichao Wang, Lina Cui, Yihan Zhao

    Published 2025-05-01
“…In order to solve the problem that the vibration signal of transformer is affected by noise and electromagnetic interference, resulting in low accuracy of fault diagnosis mode recognition, a CEEMDAN-MRAL fault diagnosis method based on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) was proposed to quickly and accurately evaluate the vibration fault state of transformer. The FBG sends the wavelength change in the optical signal center caused by the vibration of the transformer to the demodulation system, which obtains the vibration signal and effectively avoids the noise influence caused by strong electromagnetic interference inside the transformer. …”

Modulating cortical excitability and cortical arousal by pupil self-regulation by Marieke Lieve Weijs, Silvia Missura, Weronika Potok-Szybińska, Marc Bächinger, Bianca Badii, Manuel Carro-Domínguez, Nicole Wenderoth, Sarah Nadine Meissner

    Published 2025-05-01
“…., central arousal) is regulated by multiple neuromodulatory nuclei in the brainstem and significantly influences high-level cognitive processes. By exploiting the mechanistic connection between the locus coeruleus, a key regulator of central arousal, and pupil dynamics, we recently demonstrated that participants could gain volitional control over arousal-regulating centers including the locus coeruleus using a pupil-based biofeedback approach. …”

The relationship between body mass index changes and mortality in geriatric peritoneal dialysis patients: a case-control study by Yelda Deligoz Bildacı, Berfu Korucu, Mehmet Ası Oktan, Caner Cavdar, Serpil Muge Deger

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Results In the geriatric patient group exhibiting a reduced BMI after dialysis initiation, BMI significantly and negatively influenced survival (p = 0.01). The negative effect of BMI on survival was independent of known risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, a history of cardiovascular disease, gender, residual renal function, and history of hemodialysis before peritoneal dialysis (HD before PD) (p = 0.04). …”
