Digital twin-assisted multi-mode communication resource management methods for smart buildings by Cheng SHI, Pengju LIU, Zhigang DU, Sunxuan ZHANG, Zhenyu ZHOU, Huifeng BAI, Guoqing HE, Wenwen SUN, Yue MA

    Published 2023-01-01
“…The multi-mode communication network provides communication support for the collection, transmission, and processing of energy regulation data and the training of energy regulation models for smart buildings.Digital twin can provide state estimation of computing resources and channel characteristics, assist in the multi-mode communication resource optimization management, and improve the training precision of energy regulation models. However, the digital twin-assisted multi-mode communication resource management of smart buildings still face challenges such as large training error of energy regulation model, coupling of multi-timescale resource allocation, and contradictions between training precision improvement of energy regulation model and energy consumption optimization.Aiming at the above challenges, a multi-timescale communication resource management optimization algorithm based on digital twin and empirical matching learning was proposed. The weighted sum of global model loss function and energy consumption was minimized by jointly optimizing the large-timescale gateway selection and small-timescale channel allocation and power control.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the performance of weighted sum of global model loss function and energy consumption, ensure the precise energy regulation requirement and promote the low-carbon operation of smart buildings.…”

Latitude-Time Total Electron Content Anomalies as Precursors to Japan's Large Earthquakes Associated with Principal Component Analysis by Jyh-Woei Lin

    Published 2011-01-01
“…After reviewing months when no M≥6.0 earthquakes occurred but geomagnetic storm activity was present, it is possible that the maximal principal eigenvalues PCA returned for these 18 earthquakes indicate earthquake associated TEC anomalies. Previously PCA has been used to discriminate earthquake-associated TEC anomalies recognized by other researchers, who found that statistical association between large earthquakes and TEC anomalies could be established in the 5 days before earthquake nucleation; however, since PCA uses the characteristics of principal eigenvalues to determine earthquake related TEC anomalies, it is possible to show that such anomalies existed earlier than this 5-day statistical window.…”

Client grouping and time-sharing scheduling for asynchronous federated learning in heterogeneous edge computing environment by Qianpiao MA, Qingmin JIA, Jianchun LIU, Hongli XU, Renchao XIE, Tao HUANG

    Published 2023-11-01
“…., edge heterogeneity, data Non-IID, and communication resource constraints, a grouping asynchronous federated learning (FedGA) mechanism was proposed.Edge nodes were divided into multiple groups, each of which performed global updated asynchronously with the global model, while edge nodes within a group communicate with the parameter server through time-sharing communication.Theoretical analysis established a quantitative relationship between the convergence bound of FedGA and the data distribution among the groups.A time-sharing scheduling magic mirror method (MMM) was proposed to optimize the completion time of a single round of model updating within a group.Based on both the theoretical analysis for FedGA and MMM, an effective grouping algorithm was designed for minimizing the overall training completion time.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed FedGA and MMM can reduce model training time by 30.1%~87.4% compared to the existing state-of-the-art methods.…”
