Improving plant-available water estimation using model averaging of national soil water models by Brendan P. Malone, Ross D. Searle, Siyuan Tian, Thomas F. Bishop, Yi Yu, Yi Yu, Yi Yu

    Published 2025-08-01
“…IntroductionMultiple operational soil water balance (SWB) models provide real-time estimates of soil moisture across Australia, yet differences in model structure and outputs introduce uncertainty for end users. Model averaging offers a potential pathway to improve predictions, but previous studies have largely applied static weighting schemes. …”

An Energy-Efficient Multi-User’s Resource Allocation Scheme by Zhao Wang, Youming Li, Ting Zou, Xiaoqing Liu, Bin Chen

    Published 2013-04-01
“…In wireless environment, the increases in the number of users and the demand for a higher rate have triggered rapidly booming energy consumption at the base station. Therefore, energy efficient design in wireless network has become very essential. An energy efficient multi-user OFDM downlink resource allocation scheme was studied, using the distributed way.Firstly, according to user’s average channel gain and the minimum requirements of user’s bits, subcarriers were allocated, combined with the idea of proposed energy-efficient criterion. Then better channels were assigned to each user in accordance with each user’s allocated subcarrier numbers.Again each user’s average bits were assigned on the user’s allocated subcarriers and optimal adjustment using energy-efficient criterion had to be made to ensure the minimum power. The simulation results show that under the conditions of satisfying bit-error rate and transmission rate for users, the power can be reduced by 5~6 dB in the proposed algorithm, compared with the power in the static frequency division multiple access resource allocation.Furthermore, the power can be reduced by 2~4 dB,compared with the power in a existing classical distributed algorithm.…”

User interest-aware content replica optimized placement algorithm by Xiao-long YANG, Xin-xin WANG, Min ZHANG, Ke-ping LONG, Qiong HUANG

    Published 2014-12-01
“…A user interest-aware content replica optimized placement algorithm (UIARP) is proposed.Firstly, the interest subjects of the user-collective are extracted from their content access logs by clustering algorithms, and according to the weighting of the individual interest degree, their collective interest degree would be got and updated in real time; then under the nonlinear optimization model, replicas of larger collective interest degree have priority to be placed, with the goal of minimizing the average response time, which achieves the maximum match between placing replicas and users’ content demand. This algorithm not only ensures that users get interested replicas quickly, but also improves the system efficiency. From four aspects including average response time, the matching degree of request response, load balancing and the utilization rate of adjacent replicas, using 1-Greedy-Insert or others as compared algorithms, the simulation re-sults show that each metric improves by 30% on average, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.…”

Joint recommendation algorithm based on tensor completion and user preference by Zhi XIONG, Kai XU, Lingru CAI, Weihong CAI

    Published 2019-12-01
“…Aiming at the problem that existing recommendation algorithms have little regard for user preference, and the recommendation result is not satisfactory,a joint recommendation algorithm based on tensor completion and user preference was proposed.First,a user-item-category 3-dimensional tensor was built based on user-item scoring matrix and item-category matrix. Then, the Frank-Wolfe algorithm was used for iterative calculation to fill in the missing data of the tensor. At the same time,a user category preference matrix and a scoring preference matrix were built based on the 3-dimensional tensor. Finally,a joint recommendation algorithm was designed based on the completed tensor and the two preference matrices, and the differential evolution algorithm was used for parameter tuning. The experimental results show that compared with some typical and newly proposed recommendation algorithms, the proposed algorithm is superior to the compare algorithms, the precision is improved by 1.96% ~ 3.44% on average, and the recall rate is improved by 1.35%~2.40% on average.…”
