Distribution Characteristics and Environmental Response of Diatoms Deposited in Reservoirs in the Source Region of Le'an River by YIN Hongwei, ZHANG Jie, YAN Ruyu, JI Yong, XIAO Weiqi, CAI Gaotang

    Published 2024-01-01
“…At present, the study of heavy metal pollution in the Le'an River Basin should be explored. To fully elucidate the environmental characteristics and change-driven processes of reservoirs in the source region of the Le'an River, this paper employs Qinghua and Shijing reservoirs with different ecological environments and development backgrounds as research objects.Experimental records of diatom species and physicochemical indicators in sedimentary column cores are conducted, and meanwhile combined with modern monitoring data and multivariate statistical methods, environmental characteristics driving factors affecting changes in sedimentary diatom assemblages and sedimentary environment in reservoirs are analyzed. The results show that nutrient levels in the reservoirs gradually increase with the depth to the surface, and the sediment pollution evaluation also reveals the collection process of nutrients.Universal and cleaning indicator species have been replaced by fouling-tolerant and eutrophication indicator species of sedimentary diatoms, with representative species being Achnanthidium minutissima and Navicula minima. The multivariate statistical analysis results show that TP, TN, TP, and TOC are the main driving factors of diatom community structure distribution in Qinghua and Shijing reservoirs respectively (p<0.05).Box plot analysis results of 18 diatom indices reveal that CEE and LOBO indices are screened and show sound evaluation suitability and correlation. The input of exogenous materials into the reservoirs is affected by different anthropogenic practices to drive the succession of the diatom community, with a trend towards eutrophication in both reservoirs.…”

Application of MIKE11 Model in River Network Area of Pearl River Delta for Water Quality Improvement by LI Qingfeng, GUO Shan, ZHANG Ruyu, YAN Xiaoman, ZHANG Xuelin

    Published 2023-01-01
“…The water quality improvement in the river network area of the Pearl River Delta is an important part of the comprehensive management of the river basin, and it is necessary to study the compliance of water quality improvement measures.Taking the Beicun river system of Nanhai district,Foshan city in the Pearl River Delta as an example, this paper chooses COD,NH3-N and TP as the characteristic indexes based on the MIKE11 one-dimensional hydrodynamic water quality model to study the hydrodynamic force of rivers and water quality improvement effect under different engineering schemes. The results show that measures such as pollution interception, silt removal, and water diversion can improve the overall water quality of the studied river reach in varying degrees, and thus the water quality improvement is achieved. As the projects of pollution interception and fresh water are implemented, the water quality in typical cross sections of main rivers in the Beicun river system can meet the requirement of class Ⅴ.After the implementation of water diversion and transfer,as well as CSO storage pool, the pollutant concentration in the observed cross section of seriously polluted rivers decreases by more than 70%.As a result, this paper can provide a basis for improving water quality in the river network area of the Pearl River Delta.…”

Spatiotemporally Combined Dimensionality Reduction Algorithm for Optimizing Long-term Operation of Multi-reservoir Systems by CHEN Jia, ZHANG Hanjun, XU Nan

    Published 2023-01-01
“…To alleviate the “curse of dimensionality” and improve the solution efficiency while ensuring the quality of solutions in optimizing the operation of multi-reservoir systems, this paper proposes a spatiotemporally combined dimensionality reduction algorithm which integrates and improves the dynamic programming with successive approximation (DPSA) and the progressive optimality algorithm (POA).First,a chain-based successive approximation strategy is proposed to expand the DPSA's optimization mode from “single reservoir alternation” to “cascade reservoir chain alternation”,which makes up for the DPSA's shortcomings in dealing with the hydraulic coupling relationships among cascade reservoirs. Then,a dynamic variable decoupling strategy and perturbation mechanism are proposed to deal with the POA's blind search problem and dimensionality problem. Finally, the two improved algorithms are combined,in which the improved POA is applied to solving the optimization problems of cascade reservoir chains under the framework of the improved DPSA.The power generation operation problem of the cascade reservoirs in the Yuan River Basin of Hunan Province and the classical ten-reservoir problem are utilized to test the performance of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm outperforms seven existing alternatives in terms of solution quality and efficiency. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can effectively alleviate the “curse of dimensionality” in optimizing the operation of multi-reservoir systems, improve the efficiency while ensuring the quality of solutions and has potential to be applied to optimizing the operation of complex large-scale multi-reservoir systems.…”

    Published 2018-01-01
“…With the voltage-current model, the initial condition-dependent extreme multistability is explored through analyzing the stability distribution of line equilibrium point and then the coexisting infinitely many attractors are numerically uncovered in such a memristive circuit by the attraction basin and phase portraits. Furthermore, based on the accurate constitutive relation of the memristor emulator, a set of incremental flux-charge describing equations for the memristor-based canonical Chua’s circuit are formulated and a dimensionality reduction model is thus established. …”
