Peripheral blood age-sensitive immune markers in multiple sclerosis: relation to sex, cytomegalovirus status, and treatmentResearch in context
Published 2025-02-01“…Samples associated with distinct DMTs exhibited specific profiles for age-sensitive immune markers. Finally, lower levels of IL-6, TNF, IL-10, and β-NGF were observed at baseline in PwMS who subsequently experienced clinical failure after DMTs initiation. …”

TGF-β3 Induces Autophagic Activity by Increasing ROS Generation in a NOX4-Dependent Pathway
Published 2019-01-01“…The inhibition of ROS generation by N-Acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) resulted in a decrease in mucus expression and autophagy activity in vivo as well as in vitro. Finally, TGF-β3-neutralizing antibody significantly reduced the ROS generation, mucus expression, and autophagy activity and also decreased the phosphorylation of Smad2 and Smad3. …”

Polygenic prediction of human longevity on the supposition of pervasive pleiotropy
Published 2024-08-01“…We assessed the predictive performance of our model for distinguishing the enrichment of exceptional longevity among long-lived individuals in two replication cohorts (the Scripps Wellderly cohort and the Medical Genome Reference Bank (MRGB)) and showed that the median lifespan in the highest decile of our composite prognostic index is up to 4.8 years longer. Finally, using the proteomic correlates of iLGS, we identified protein markers associated with exceptional longevity irrespective of chronological age and prioritized drugs with repurposing potentials for gerotherapeutics. …”

Design and testing of a posture-adjusting precision metering device for high-speed maize planting
Published 2025-01-01“…Secondly, the influences of the seed posture adjusting efficiency and seed flow distribution characteristics on the seed-filling effect were clarified by the EDEM simulation. Finally, the high-speed metering performance was optimized and validated using bench testing.ResultsThe experiment demonstrated that the type A groove had the highest seed posture adjusting efficiency, a more uniform seed flow distribution, and a superior seed-filling effect as compared to the other groove types. …”

Biomarker combinations from different modalities predict early disability accumulation in multiple sclerosis
Published 2025-01-01“…When comparing all possible biomarker combinations, the tripartite combination of MRI, OCT and blood biomarkers achieved the highest discriminative accuracy. Finally, predictive causal modeling identified that LV mediates significant parts of the effect of GMV and sNfL on disability progression.ConclusionMultimodal biomarkers, i.e. different major surrogates for pathology derived from MRI, OCT and blood, inform about different parts of the disease pathology leading to clinical progression.…”

Factorial invariance of the generalized anxiety disorder scale (GAD-7) in Latin America and the Caribbean
Published 2025-01-01“…Additionally, the factor structure showed measurement invariance between genders and countries, with adequate fit indices at all levels (configural, metric, scalar, and strict), suggesting that the measurements are equivalent in both contexts. Finally, the internal consistency of the GAD-7 was high, with a McDonald’s Omega coefficient of 0.91.ConclusionsThe GAD-7 exhibits a factor structure that is equivalent across genders and countries, demonstrating its validity and reliability for the rapid detection of GAD symptoms in different countries within the region.…”

Molecular Characterization of the Tumor Suppressor Candidate 5 Gene: Regulation by PPARγ and Identification of TUSC5 Coding Variants in Lean and Obese Humans
Published 2009-01-01“…Tusc5 expression was not induced appreciably in liver preparations overexpressing PPARs, suggesting that tissue-specific factors regulate PPARγ responsiveness of the TUSC5 gene. Finally, we observed no differences in Tusc5 WAT expression or prevalence of coding region SNPs in lean versus obese human subjects. …”
