Cellular Origin of Spontaneous Ganglion Cell Spike Activity in Animal Models of Retinitis Pigmentosa
Published 2011-01-01“…Patch-clamp recordings from identified types of ON and OFF retinal ganglion cells in the adult (36–210 d old) rd1 mouse show that the ongoing oscillatory spike activity in both cell types is driven by strong rhythmic synaptic input from presynaptic neurons that is blocked by CNQX. The recurrent synaptic activity may arise in a negative feedback loop between a bipolar cell and an amacrine cell that exhibits resonant behavior and oscillations in membrane potential when the normal balance between excitation and inhibition is disrupted by the absence of photoreceptor input.…”

Adenine-induced animal model of chronic kidney disease: current applications and future perspectives
Published 2024-12-01“…Despite significant advances in our understanding of the pathogenesis of CKD, there are still no treatments that can effectively combat CKD, which underscores the urgent need for further study into the pathological mechanisms underlying this condition. In this regard, animal models of CKD are indispensable. This article reviews a widely used animal model of CKD, which is induced by adenine. …”

Studies on development of early immunity against type O FMD in naturally susceptible animals
Published 2020-06-01“…FMD risk in the Russian Federation dictates the need for enhanced measures aiming to prevent the introduction of FMD virus and comprising systematic monitoring research and mass vaccination of susceptible animals in the buffer zone. Research into the development of vaccines for early protection confirm that their use induces the formation of virus-neutralizing antibodies in naturally susceptible animals in the outbreak area, which protects from FMD infection, limits its spread and contains it within the primary outbreak. …”
