Adapting to evolving MRI data: A transfer learning approach for Alzheimer’s disease prediction by Rosanna Turrisi, Sarthak Pati, Giovanni Pioggia, Gennaro Tartarisco

    Published 2025-02-01
“…This study explores Transfer Learning (TL) approaches to enhance AD diagnosis using a Baseline model consisting of a 3D-Convolutional Neural Network trained on 80 3T MRI scans. Two scenarios are explored: (A) utilizing historical data to address changes in MRI acquisitions (from 1.5T to 3T MRI), and (B) adapting 2D models pre-trained on ImageNet (ResNet18, ResNet50, ResNet101) for 3D image processing when historical data is unavailable. In both scenarios, two modeling approaches are tested. …”

A comparative study on different machine learning approaches with periodic items for the forecasting of GPS satellites clock bias by Longjiang Song, Jiahao Liu, Leilei Wang, Ziyi Wang, Yibo Yuan

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Therefore, to ensure high levels of real-time positioning accuracy, it is essential to address the challenge of enhancing satellite clock deviation prediction when high-precision clock data is unavailable. Given the high frequency, sensitivity, and variability of space-borne GPS satellite atomic clocks, it is important to consider the periodic variations of satellite clock bias (SCB) in addition to the inherent properties of GPS satellite clocks such as frequency deviation, frequency drift, and frequency drift rate to improve SCB prediction accuracy and gain a better understanding of its characteristics. …”

BODY AND SPACE RELATIONSHIP IN THE RESEARCH FIELD OF PHENOMENOLOGICAL ANTHROPOLOGY: BLUMENBERG’S CRITICISM OF EDMUND HUSSERL’S “ANTHROPOLOGY PHOBIA” by V. Prykhodko, S. Rudenko

    Published 2018-06-01
“…Conclusions show the following state of affairs demonstrated by the anthropological and performative shift towards the body theme: 1) absolutisation of space without mentioning its relation to body experience is unreasonable and groundless, like in Husserl’s “anthropology phobia ”; 2) since the ground itself is a metaphorical anthropology basis, anthropology can reveal the structural conditions of perception due to thematic fronting of embodiment; 3) this gives anthropology some compensational features, to avoid false culture and nature dualism; 4) so, the space and body relationship is expressed by the Vehikel-phenomenon (transport phenomenon) of the body itself, by placing, arranging and depicting, and thus replacing something missing and unavailable for direct contemplation, by revealing the spatial infrastructure for object perception, creating the presence conditions and metaphorically marking the contemplation boundary; 5) the depicting arrangement (Darstellung) is at the same time a bodily performance, a play, staging and performing, which gives an aesthetic, poetic and emphatic impact on the use of philosophy language, in our case, on the way a phenomenology philosopher works with the language.…”

Long-duration energy storage in transmission-constrained variable renewable energy systems by Andrew K. Chu, Ejeong Baik, Sally M. Benson

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Science for society: If emissions-free power from controllable sources such as nuclear energy or fossil fuels with carbon capture and storage is not accessible, long-duration energy storage (LDES) is essential for decarbonizing the electricity grid, as it helps balance supply and demand of electricity over extended periods when solar and wind power are unavailable. Our modeling shows that when LDES is affordable, it can reliably provide steady power, filling a role that is difficult for solar, wind, and other storage technologies to replace. …”
